Publication on Altered Gravity and Cellular Signaling

Dr. Paolo Annibale and his research team at the University of St Andrews investigate the molecular mechanisms of cellular signaling using advanced fluorescence microscopy and live-cell imaging. In their publication in npj Microgravity, the researchers explore how altered gravity influences β-adrenergic receptor-mediated cAMP signaling in living mammalian cells.
Using fluorescence biosensors and live-cell imaging, the team demonstrated that simulated microgravity and hypergravity have opposing effects on cAMP signaling, changing how cells respond to adrenergic stimulation. Their results show that alterations in gravity can directly influence intracellular signaling pathways, offering valuable insights into how physical forces may affect cellular function and pharmacological responses.
We congratulate Dr. Paolo Annibale and his research team on this achievement and invite you to explore the full publication below.
