Transportable CO2 incubator

CELLBOX 2.0

CELLBOX GROUND 2.0 & CELLBOX FLIGHT 2.0
To ensure the ideal conditions for any transport, we provide two device types – the Cellbox Ground 2.0 and the Cellbox Flight 2.0. These two boxes are near-identical, except for the carbon dioxide source and conditioning system – the Ground uses disposable CO2 cartridges and the Flight dry-ice. Due to international flight regulations, open gas canisters are not permitted on an aircraft. That’s why we had to find a solution for providing carbon dioxide without actually using a gas cartridge. Dry-ice naturally sublimates into gaseous CO2 – that in turn sustains the passengers in the Cellbox. The source of CO2 does however impact the operation period of the incubator. The Cellbox Ground 2.0 can be operated for more than 72 hours (at 5% CO2), while the Cellbox Flight 2.0 would need a dry ice refill after 32 hours. In addition to that, there are only two more small differences between the models: Firstly, the Cellbox Flight 2.0 weighs one kilogram less than the Ground 2.0 and secondly, while both can be fitted with a GPS, only the ground variant can be tracked at all times.

FAQ about our portable CO2 incubators

A new product often brings questions - and we are happy to answer them. If you can't find the answer you are looking for, do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you and your cells!

  • How long does the battery last?

The battery packs inside the Cellbox provide an uninterrupted power source for the operation of the Cellbox 2.0 during transport for more than 48 hours (at a preset temperature of 37°C when ambient temperature is 23°C).

  • How can I charge the box?

The Cellbox is fitted with 4 lithium-ion battery packs (99,4Wh each), that can be charged from any wall socket that provides 100-230 V.

  • How long does it take to fully charge the box?

Nine hours will be required to fully charge the batteries.

  • How can I charge the box during transport?

It is essential that the battery packs of the Cellbox are fully charged before the transport of any goods. To extend battery life during transport, confirm that the car adapter is set to 20V DC and connect it to the auxiliary car power outlet.

  • Why do the green lights blink?

Each of the LEDs represent a 25% charge value. A blinking LED therefore indicates that the Cellbox is either being charged or discharged. When all four of the LEDs are steadily lit in green, the Cellbox is fully charged (100%). Three green-lit LEDs indicate a battery level of 75%, two of 50% and so on.

  • Can I use the Cellbox Ground in the plane?

Due to International Air Transport Association regulations, it is strictly forbidden to transport an operating Cellbox Ground in any aircraft. If you want to ship your cells by air, have a look at our Cellbox Flight.

  • Which dangerous goods regulations apply?

Because the Cellbox contains lithium-ion-batteries, UN3481 applies and needs to be indicated on the outside of the box. Additionally, the Cellbox Flight 2.0 needs a dry-ice indication: UN1845 Dry-Ice label. Please add amount of dry ice in kilograms as well as shipper’s and consignee’s information.
